Kotlin is a modern language, intended as a Java alternative. It compiles to bytecode, making it just as efficient as Java (and more). Additionally, Java and Kotlin files can be combined in a single project which makes transitions easy.
Kotlin is a preferred language for Android applications, but can be used anywhere Java can due to its ability to run in the JVM.
In this talk, you will learn why, some basic syntax, cool features, and how to bootstrap your learning (whether hands-on practice or tutorials).
