LSHTM is uniquely placed to help shape health policy and translate research findings into tangible impact. The School has 3,000 staff conducting research in over 100 countries, and more than 4,000 students — all working with a collective purpose to improve health worldwide. LSHTM is now based in Bloomsbury, where it has two main sites at Keppel Street and Tavistock Place, and additional sites in The Gambia and Uganda. The school has more than 30,000 alumni in over 180 countries working in government, academia, international agencies and health services.
The School's impact goes far beyond its immediate brand recognition. It is the top ranked university in Europe for Public Health and the third ranked in the world. LSHTM is well-placed to lead research efforts against COVID-19 because of its history of excellence in fighting infectious disease. The School was awarded a Queen's Anniversary Prize for Higher and Further Education in 2017 in recognition of its response to the 2014 Ebola epidemic in West Africa. LSHTM is ranked number 1 in the world for the study of tropical medicine.
The aim of the of Google Developer Student Club is to add a software element wherever it is needed in the work of the School, and in so doing make its life-saving work more accessible, interactive and useful. As well as monthly or fortnightly events bridging the gap between scientists, tech, public institutions and the private sector, the Club offers introductory and advanced courses in programming, machine learning and other topics for which there is demand at the School and across the UK.
Watch out for our weekly Machine Learning Classes!
We do Machine Learning lectures on demand! Suggest a topic here and we will do it!
Each of the examples you've done so far involved classifying one thing or another -- horse or human, cat or dog. When moving beyond binary into Categorical classification there are some coding considerations you need to take into account. You'll look at them this week!

View detailsIn this first in a four part lecture series, we will introduce the programming environment for data science, learn to read in files, and perform basic operations.
View detailsIn this second lecture in the series on programming for data science, we will look at basic structures, working with linear functions, and plotting using popular python libraries.
View detailsIn this third lecture in the series on programming for data science, we will be looking at how to express advanced statistical operations programmatically.
View detailsIn this fourth lecture in the series on Programming for Data Science, we will look at deploying regression analysis.
