Laura is the Community and Engagement Lead for PA Consulting within Northern Ireland, and works to drive internal engagement, as well as embedding PA within the Belfast Community through a purpose-led approach to partnerships and creating space for D&I-focused conversations within tech. A former People Networks lead, Laura co-chairs the NI Working With Pride network, bringing together professional LGBTQ+ networks from local businesses and organisations to support employees and the wider LGBTQ+ community in Belfast.
Jemma Simpson is the founder of DiverseTalent.ai, the first Diversity driven recruitment company in NI. Jemma’s mission is to solidify diversity, inclusion and equity into the workplace, whilst supporting job seekers to connect to ethical employers, the team have now developed & launched the first phase of their new SaaS platform to support this. Being a founder, Jemma is usually seen recruiting, marketing, hosting and leading product development of DiverseTalent.ai, sometimes, you might even see her giving talks or campaigning.
After completing my undergraduate degree in English Literature I moved to China to become an English teacher.
It was there I made friends with a variety of entrepreneurs and software developers and was inspired to get into the start-up scene when I returned to Ireland.
I joined a UX SaaS company as their first employee where I worked as an account manager whilst working closely with other software developers.
I found myself wanting to learn more about software development, so I enrolled in an MSc at Queens and was employed by Allstate in the last quarter of my degree.
Every day I’m looking to expand my technical skills so I can keep progressing in my new software development career.
Yuan is 2nd Year Computing Science student at Ulster University. He has a strong passion to link the student body with the local tech community. Besides the university, he is a conference organiser at NIDC and SISTEM, and he is also a committee member at BCS NI Chapter. Now he is looking forward to the new semester and the upcoming placement at Liberty IT.
