Come learn the fundamentals of Machine Learning and how you can apply it in your future projects! Through this 1 hour workshop you'll learn what ML is, how its applied and how you can get started in learning more about it! Taught by DSC's Technical Director, Gabriel! All majors and years at the University of Toronto are free to attend!

Why learn Machine Learning (ML)?

  • Machine learning is already widely applied everywhere (facial recognition, text to speech recognition, spam filters on your inbox, online shopping or viewing recommendations, credit card fraud detection and so much more!)
  • New opportunities in your career and academia arise from applying ML
  • Even if you're not a programmer, it is incredibly helpful to understand what ML is and how the future will be shaped by this continuously growing technology.

What will be covered:

  1. Defining ML: How is it different from AI?
  2. Applications of ML
  3. Types of ML Algorithms

  4. General Overview of Code used for ML
  5. Basics of Neural Networks
  6. Resources to Start Building ML Projects
  7. The Future of ML


  • No prior developer experience is required
  • Chrome installed w/ Internet connection
  • Basic programming language experience could help, but not required.

Note: During this workshop you'll be required to open multiple tabs to follow along. We recommend using a desktop or laptop while tuning in to get the most out of of this experience!
