In collaboration with the U of T CTF Team and MCSS, the U of T CTF competition is being brought back for a second year. This CTF will be taking place online over the weekend of January 13th and 14th. The (optional) in-person component takes place on the 13th consisting of talks by 2 cybersecurity professionals and a provided lunch; participants will then have time to get hacking with their teammates at our campus venue or virtually. All participants will need a Discord account to stay up to date on the event, as we will be posting announcements on our server. There will also be the opportunity to form teams there if you are not already grouped up. Invite link: https://discord.gg/Un7avdkq7Z NOTE: Only RSVP for this event if you plan to attend in-person; otherwise there is no need to fill out this form! The in-person session will be taking place at Bahen Centre for Information Technology, 40 Saint George Street, room BA1130.
A CTF (Capture The Flag) competition contains a variety of challenges that require players to solve technical puzzles related to computer security to discover flags (a unique string of text that serves as proof of solving a challenge); this can involve reverse engineering software, rooting web servers, recovering data, etc. This CTF is Jeopardy-style, meaning that the challenges are categorized based on their nature (Web, Forensics, etc.) and difficulty; participants score points by successfully completing these challenges.
