Open-source contribution is a great way for students to start working on projects professionally while actively learning and creating a real impact on the community. This initiative aims to introduce, support, and motivate students along their way with open-source contributions. GDSC will maintain a wide range of student-run open source projects for public contribution. We will collaborate with project owners to help them plan out issues by organizing sprints, preparing documentation, reviewing pull requests, and the like. We will be regularly updating the project list, so be sure to keep an eye out for that! By contributing to our open-source projects, students will receive: Support and mentorship from experienced GDSC developers and project owners Opportunities to learn and practice new technologies: React, Python, Webhooks, Socket.io, MongoDB, etc. Exposure to industry standard development practices: following git flows, writing pull requests, reflecting on code reviews, and practicing CI/CD Chances to get swag and prizes During the academic year, there will also be pop-up workshops to introduce technical concepts, showcase projects, and connect students with each other and with project owners. At the end of the year, we will give recognition to and feature outstanding students and projects.
