The Event
This event will be the finale of this year’s Diliman Solution challenge. The Top 5 teams will make their final pitch to a panel of judges where they will also defend their solutions through a Q&A session. This is your time to make that impact!
The Pitch
In preparation for the live pitching, the Top 5 teams must prepare a short presentation in which they will pitch their solution to a panel of judges. This pitch must be limited to 7 minutes which will then be followed by an 8-minute Q&A session that will last for up to 15 minutes.

Mr. Asiado is a fresh applied physics graduate from the University of the Philippines at Los Baños with rigorous background in computational physics and technopreneurship.
As a scientist, Mr. Asiado specializes in computational materials physics dealing with first-principles calculations such as the Density Functional Theory (DFT). In his undergraduate thesis, he investigated the quantum mechanical adsorption of gas molecules on single-atom alloy surfaces such as their energetics, surface segregation, and electronic analysis through DFT-based calculations. His study opens the door for the fabrication of novel materials that can facilitate enhanced selectivity in Carbon Dioxide Reduction Reaction, a promising way to reduce the global levels of carbon dioxide and solve the shortage of fuels. He collaborated with professors and research associates from the UP Los Baños and the University of Tokyo. Other than condensed matter and materials physics, his scientific acumen spans other branches of subfields such as physical chemistry and complex systems. He also taught high school mathematics and physics in the UP College Admission Test (UPCAT) review of one of his university organizations to aspiring examinees in 2020.
As a management and IT enthusiast, Mr. Asiado embarked on different projects during his undergraduate years. In 2021, he co-founded UP SysTeam, an IT solutions team composed of UP Cebu, Diliman, Los Baños, and Open University students. They won the Google Global Solutions Challenge in the same year. Their flagship project is the Island Intervention for Systematic Evacuation (i-RISE), a prototyping-stage information dissemination platform for disaster risk management of the island communities of Tubigon in Bohol. He also had experience in management consulting as an assistant to the Lead Consultant and Data Scientist for Salubris Medical Center, the leading private hospital in Region II. He also interned in the UPLB Technology Transfer and Business Development Office in 2017.
Mr. Asiado graduated from the University of the Philippines at Los Baños as a DOST scholar in 2022 with a BS degree in Applied Physics and from the University of the Philippines Rural High School with Honors in 2018 under the Accountancy and Business Management Track. During his high school and undergraduate years, he served on executive committees across various student organizations and spearheaded university-wide events.

Zoe is a student at the University of the Philippines Diliman under the School of Statistics, which she juggles alongside being a student-athlete. She is a strong advocate for women in technology and sustainability, and her roles as Data Operations Lead under GDSC - Diliman and Chief Finance Officer under UP Bike Share help with her cause. In these organizations, she uses her knowledge base on data management and analysis to further optimize their operations and better cater to the communities that they serve.
Kurt Lanting is a Computer Science student at the University of the Philippines Diliman. With a strong passion for technology, finance, physical fitness, cooking, martial arts, and photography, He is a well-rounded individual who seeks to learn and grow.
He has gained valuable leadership experience through involvement in various organizations, including the Google Development Student Clubs UP Diliman. In his current role as Operations Projects Lead, he is responsible for planning and executing initiatives for the organization while providing logistical support and leadership to the team. Before this, he served as an Operations Member for the same organization, where he assisted in the planning and execution of projects and events.
Before his university experience, he was the Core Vice President and Core Public Relations Officer for the Senior High School Student Council at the Technological Institute of the Philippines. During his tenure, he directed and executed monthly events with 30 student council officers, mentored students, and headed the management team in selecting a new set of student council officers. Additionally, he served as the STEM Public Relations Officer for the same institute, organizing and hosting ten monthly student events.
His leadership skills extend beyond his time in student councils and organizations. He was also the President of the Student Council Body at St. Joseph Catholic School. He supervised and managed a team and successfully administered ten proposed platforms to improve the school community.
In addition to his leadership skills, he possesses a strong skillset in operations, project management, event planning, and team handling. These skills were developed and honed through his various leadership experiences, and he continues to build upon them in his current role as Operations Projects Lead.
Overall, he is a highly motivated and dedicated individual committed to positively impacting the organizations he is involved. His strong leadership skills and passion for personal growth make him an asset to any team.
Samantha is an Electronics Engineering student in UP Diliman. She was the Documentation Head for Dagitab 2022, a workshop-competition held by the UP Engineering Radio Guild. She and her team nabbed second runner-up and Best Innovation Proposal in the Diliman Solutions Challenge 2022. She graduated high school with high honors from Mapua University, where she completed an on-the-job training in Metalcon Inc.
Bree is the Publicity and Communications Manager of Diliman Solutions Challenge 2023. Pursuing her undergrad at the University of the Philippines, she aspires to pursue a tech and design career. She's also been volunteering in various nonprofits and most notably holds a position on the Executive Committee of the head chapter of Youth for Women in Technology Incorporated (WiTech).
Beyond academics and organizations, she's a coffee-powered teen who gets either too little or too much sleep and thrives on sitcoms. More importantly, she puts her heart into everything that she does and hopes to be able to keep working towards genuine progress in STEM and our society.
