About this event

Over the past few years, Google Developer Student Clubs USTP has continued to deliver on its goals and aspirations of creating a community of developers who are passionate about uplifting communities. As the field of Science and Technology has expanded and spread across various career areas, it is essential to equip students with these sought-after skills earlier and engage them in pursuing careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics.

To achieve this, Google Developer Student Clubs USTP will be conducting its annual Spread The Word: eTudlo event, an information drive and outreach initiative that aims to spark students' interest in pursuing STEM-related endeavors. This event is a combination of two programs: Spread the Word, which targets Senior High School students and motivates them to pursue STEM-related courses in the USTP, and eTudlo, a program that introduces incoming SHS students to Google Workspace and technologies, particularly in hinterland and strategic areas, and motivates them to pursue STEM or ICT tracks.

The name of the event is a combination of two words. Spread The Word defines itself as a method to spread the presence of a GDSC organization throughout Northern Mindanao, together with Google. Meanwhile, eTudlo is inspired by the Visayan word "itudlo," which means "to teach." The combination of these two programs is meaningful in expanding GDSC USTP’s agenda - to build more potential student developers and problem solvers. By harnessing modern technologies, students can create meaningful impacts towards society, which will also contribute to the university’s vision of becoming a nationally-recognized science and technology university.

With this event, GDSC - USTP aims to teach Senior High School students about the broad range of knowledge related to the use of technology, aligning with the organization's mission and vision. Additionally, the event will introduce and invite USTP to the SHS students. By the end of the event, the students are expected to gain more experience and knowledge related to technology through the activities prepared for the event.
