The official Google premium partner for Serbia, Devoteam Serbia, is welcoming students to the newest GDSC UNS event - Keep your head in the Clouds. On December 16th, students will have the chance to learn about and explore the Google Cloud Platform, introduced by an expert in the field – Oliver Frolovs, Senior Google Cloud Platform Engineer at Devoteam G Cloud UK.

About this event

On the newest event of GDSC UNS, students will have the chance of meeting the Google Cloud Platform – a suite of cloud computing services offered by Google which include over 100 products, with key services: Compute, Storage & Databases, Networking, AI, IoT, Identity & Security, and many more. The host of the event is Devoteam Serbia, the official Google Premium partner for Serbia, exclusively bringing an expert in the field.

Oliver Frolovs, Senior Google Cloud Platform Engineer at Devoteam G Cloud UK, will provide his broad knowledge on the Platform, give insights, and also share personal experiences to help students on the path of figuring out their own careers. In addition, Vanja Melnik, Business Development Specialist at Devoteam G Cloud, will introduce Devoteam ways of working and talk about the business transformation, giving more on Google technologies in Serbia. Students will also have the chance to explore the Platform and learn about the infrastructure, having a high-level understanding of the technical landscape. With a limited capacity, Devoteam Serbia is welcoming students to their office in Novi Sad, on the 16th of December.

NOTE:

2. After a couple of days you will receive a Google Form on your email address to fill it out, and based on the answers a selection of participants will be made

All registered participants will be receiving an invitation email to attend the live event if they are chosen.

My name is Oliver and I can't think of an easy label to apply to myself. I started working in web development and systems administration when I was 17 and was continuously employed since. I studied at four universities in two different countries, of which I graduated from only two - with a Diploma in Physical Sciences and a Bachelors in Engineering Mathematics. My main strengths (and my worst weaknesses) are my natural curiosity, and open yet critical mind. The most general description of my career is that I had always used computers in some way to solve problems and help people. I've been a developer, an accountant, a teacher, a technician, an academic researcher in dynamics and control, and more recently, DevOps and/or cloud engineer. I hold Google Cloud Associate Engineer and Professional Architect, as well as HashiCorp Terraform Associate Certificates. I can program (on a good day) in Python, Go, C, and a few other languages. I speak Russian and English, both to an equal degree. I have maker skills - I can program microcontrollers, laser cut and 3D print stuff, and have a decent awareness of different engineering materials, their properties, and how to build things from them. I study new tech every day. I appreciate aesthetics.

I studied turismology on Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, University of Novi Sad. On the last year of bachelor studies, I went to London for an internship at one of the world’s most exclusive hotels – Claridge's, where I kick-started my career. From planning to stay in London for a year, it turned out to be a decade of working in London for some of the most elite hotels in the positions from receptionist to sales manager, to director of sales and marketing. For the last 7 years, I have been working as a business developer in the event & hotel industry as an independent consultant, globally, where I communicate and negotiate on a daily basis with the top management of large corporations, and small businesses as well. Due to global changes caused by the pandemic, I decided to accept the chance of diving into the IT world, in Devoteam, as a person responsible for bringing Google Cloud to our region. Today, this means communicating with CEOs and CTOs of small and large companies, and self motivation for changes and constant improvement.
