About this event

About

Pimp My Site is UI/UX hackathon driven by the idea of learning by competing. The competiton calls on designers and creatives alike to gather in teams and redesign a website or mobile application infamous for bad user experience using a design tool of their choice. This year we would like to target a few government websites that have received countrywide critique over the years for the same issue.

The Challenge

To participate in Pimp My Site, teams will be required to pick one of the five government websites listed below for redesign:

  1. KRA/iTax
  2. KNEC
  3. Ministry of Health
  4. Kenya Power

The goal is to first identify the UI/UX issues present on the site. Afterward, the teams will be required to conduct user research pertaining their selected site. Finally the team will redesign the site using Figma, and finally make their submissions before the deadline (Wednesday 3rd May 11:59PM).

The submission should contain the following:

  1. A Case Study - documenting the issues present in the original site, their user research as well their redesign process
  2. The Figma design link - ensure the link is viewable by anyone with the link
  3. A video demo of the working prototype - optional

Participants will be assigned certified UI/UX experts as team to help on this awesome journey! The challenge provides a platform for individuals to showcase their creativity, work collaboratively, and receive recognition for their design skills.
