The Hacktoberfest events are organised to learn about open source and how to contribute to open source projects effectively.

About this event

GDSC UNILAG is hosting a 3 day event to mark Hacktoberfest from Tuesday, 11th of October 2022 to Thursday, 13th of October 2022. At the end of the events participants should expect to:-

  • Know what Hactoberfest is and how to get a badge
  • Know what it means to contribute to open source projects
  • Know how to source for open source project to contribute to
  • Know how to navigate through the Hacktoberfest official discord server to find projects
  • Participate in a live workshop on contributing to open source
  • Learn necessary soft skills in contributing to open source
  • Know how to setup an open source project
  • Know how to maintain an active open source contribution presence even after Hacktoberfest
