The Open Source community is a community of developers and non-developers who collaborate and work together to build software and tools (open-source software) that improves our lives. Open source software are usually free of charge and the source code is open for everyone to view. A notable example of open source software is the Linux operating system distribution. In this month of October, we celebrate the open source community by giving back to it. Developers and non-technical people collaborate on making new software and improving existing software as well. One thing to note is that you don't need to be able to code to contribute to open source. You can help make the documentation easy to read, add important information in the read-me documents, and even translate your favorite software to your own language! How cool is that?! During this event, you will learn about: You are supposed to come with a laptop that has an internet connection so we can make open-source contributions!
