Hands-on Web3 Workshop with Michael Lafortune:
The first session will include a hands-on learning workshop with Micheal Lafortune who is the Chief Technology Officer of Econnomi, a digital assets platform for tokenizing lease contracts. You will have the opportunity to learn how smart contracts work by building your own cryptocurrency project in Web3, interacting with it on a real-time blockchain network!
Panel Discussion and Networking with Blockchain Professionals:
The second session will include a short Panel Discussion followed by an Open Networking Session for you to chat with the industry professionals within Blockchain, to get all your Web3 related questions answered. Stay tuned on our socials to find out which professionals will be attending!
Alexander Lin is a 4th year Computer Science student at UBC. He is a software engineer with a focus on blockchain technology and defi ecosystems. He previously worked on transforming blockchain emitted events into digestible APIs at Covalent. He is now building self sovereign identity mechanisms at Boeing.
Oliver Murray has a diverse educational and work background. His intellectual curiosity's first lead him to physics where he was motivated by the thrill of discovery of the pure natural world. These analytical skills were later applied in the field of Economics where he earned his MA in Economics at Queens University. His transformation into a developer occurred during his 7 year career as a risk engineer in the Canadian banking system. Realizing the power of programming to put his ideas into practice, he since left his job at the bank to pursue a life of two passions: Marine Biology and Web3.
Michael Lafortune is the Chief Technology Officer of Econommi. Econommi is a digital assets platform for tokenizing lease contracts. They partner with dealerships and brokers to acquire assets, like cars, and initiate leases. They then turn around and sell shares in those contracts to investors, earning them 10% per annum. Econommi's mission is to transition the world from a debt based economy to an asset backed one.
