Women Techmakers is Google's global program and brand for women in technology. Every year, in celebration of International Women's Day, WomenTechmakers chapters across the globe host talks, conferences, and workshops to raise awareness of innovative female leaders in technology and inspire others to join the field.
This year our theme celebrates all kinds of progress - big or small - and the strength we demonstrate when we don’t let fear hold us back from following our dreams.
Our paths aren’t always linear, and we may come across seemingly impossible challenges, but when we celebrate #ProgressNotPerfection, we are celebrating all we’ve accomplished - big and small - and our inner strength and resilience that allowed us to get here.
This year, Women Techmakers Ambassadors in collaboration with GDSC Japan, Australia and New Zealand have come together to host a virtual International Women’s Day summit on April 28th. We are planning a day full of inspirational talks and practical workshops.

She specialized in Behavioral Ecology and Physical Anthropology, conducted research on wild chimpanzee, fallow deer and wild sheep in Great Britain, peafowl in Sri Lanka. Recently she is conducting research on human evolution and adaptation. In 2008, she became President of the Human Behavior and Evolution Society of Japan and received the Hidaka Award from the Japan Ethological Society in 2012.
My name is Shoko, I’m an organizer of GDG Tokyo and WTM Tokyo. Then I host various types of meetups, hands-on workshops, codelabs, and tech conferences.
My main job is as a DevRel in an IT company, supporting engineering organizations and technical public relations.
Addicted to Android in a company that joined as a new graduate, and after that, joined Mercari as an Android Engineer. Recently been involved in the development of an app with Jetpack Compose and also presented about the Compose Preview at DroidKaigi2021.
Kinuko is a Senior Staff Software Engineer at Google. She started using computers when she joined university, where she instantly got addicted to programming. She majored in computer science and received her Ph.D from Keio University, worked both in academia and industry, and then joined Google Japan as a Software Engineer. She moved to Munich recently and now works for Google Germany, where she leads projects in programming languages and software development foundations. She drinks a lot of coffee, occasionally plays the piano, and enjoys the chaotic life with her two boys.
