About this event

Android Study Jams are community-organized study groups for people to learn how to build Android apps in the Kotlin programming language, using the curriculum provided by Google.

This Study Jam brings you the Android Fundamentals Course which blends theory and practice to help you build great apps the right way. In the study Jam, you will work with instructors, step-by-step, to build an Android app, and learn best practices of mobile development in general and Android development in particular.

During the course, you will get a general overview of mobile development for Android, learn basic programming concepts as well as core vocabulary and concepts in Android, get hands-on experience building a small app using the Kotlin language.

If you have prior programming experience but are new to Android and the Kotlin programming language, take this track. First, you will learn the syntax and features of Kotlin by solving these Kotlin Koans exercises.

Once you know the basics of Kotlin, dive into the Android Kotlin Fundamentals course to build a variety of Android apps in Kotlin. You will learn about UI layouts, app architecture, data storage, connecting to the network, and more best practices for Android development.
