Kon Asimacopoulos is a restructuring partner in the London office of Kirkland & Ellis International LLP and acts for companies and investors in national and cross-border financial restructuring, insolvency and litigation matters. He has been involved in dozens of the leading global and European restructuring and litigation matters over the course of the past 20 years. Thomas Jemmett is a restructuring and special situations partner in the London office of Kirkland & Ellis International LLP. Restructuring Government Debts: A Growth Industry?

P. Cailleteau will speak to us about the wave of Sovereign debt restructurings that is happening on the heels of a decade of massive leveraging that the COVID only accelerated. He will talk about Argentina, Lebanon, Ecuador and many other cases of financial distress and how these problems can be addressed.

Pierre Cailleteau is the Managing Director of the Sovereign Advisory group at Lazard. He had first a career in the public sector: French Central Bank on european monetary affairs, IMF as advisor to the French Executive Director), and the Financial Stability Board in Basel. He then moved to the private sector where he headed the Global Sovereign Rating group at Moody’s, was responsible for the Sovereign and institutional business at Amundi Asset Management, and is now a partner at Lazard specialising in Sovereign advisory matters, including debt management and restructuring.

Karim Kassam is a restructuring and special situations partner in the London office of Kirkland & Ellis International LLP. Karim has experience in cross-border restructurings advising debtors, creditors and strategic investors on restructurings of stressed and distressed businesses. Karim acts on financing transactions across a broad spectrum of capital structures, in particular in relation to event-driven financings and financial restructurings. His recent transactions include advising an ad hoc committee of bondholders and lead investors in Debenhams, an ad hoc committee of bondholders of Matalan, and an ad hoc committee of bondholders of HEMA.

Lisa Stevens is a restructuring and special situation partner in the London office of Kirkland & Ellis International LLP. Her recent transactions include the restructuring of a global auto parts manufacturer, Europe’s leading vending machine, a leading high street retailer and a listed multinational French corporation, along with various financings to stressed and distressed companies. All of these transactions involved complicated cross border restructuring processes.
