We are introducing a new initiative - Open Crowdsource - that aims to provide the academic community with access to a diverse worldwide crowd of motivated volunteer communities through the mobile and web apps of Crowdsourced by Google. Through rounds of calls for pilot projects, Open Crowdsource aims to empower academic communities from around the world to demonstrate crowdsourcing research innovation in terms of crowd engagement, incentives, diversity, scale and data quality. Each project will be considered as a pilot study to identify specific requirements (technical, organizational, legal, privacy and community-related) to sustainably run a service like Crowdsource in the open domain.
