Zeerak Ahmed is a designer, engineer and writer from Lahore. Ahmed is a Principal UX Design Lead at Amazon, designs breakthrough Urdu technology under Matnsaz, and writes about Pakistani pop music.

Matnsāz is an initiative to build consumer and developer tools for the Urdu language. These tools are built with the outlook to scale to other languages in the Arabic script. The goal is not just to build software, but to help our audience believe that high quality computing can be experienced in Urdu and built by Urdu speakers. You can learn more about it at

Ahmed has also worked on search for Microsoft, educational games, and healthcare technology. Ahmed holds a Masters in Design Engineering with Distinction from the Harvard Graduate School of Design and the Harvard John A. Paulson School of Engineering and Applied Sciences, and a Bachelors of Science in Engineering Magna Cum Laude in Computer Science and Public Policy from Princeton University. He was part of a laptop orchestra and has taught design and computer science.
