A modern web development architecture built on JavaScript, APIs, and Markup is referred to as JAMstack (JAM). JAMstack is a new technique of building apps and websites, rather than a single technology. A JAMstack site separates the code (JavaScript), the site infrastructure (APIs), and the content (instead of utilizing a standard CMS or site builder) (Markup). All of this will be handled in a decoupled architecture with a clear server-side/client-side divide. In fact, one of the key goals of JAMstack websites and applications is to shift as much weight as possible from the server to the client.
