About this event
In this Study Jam, you will learn the basics of building Android apps with the Kotlin programming language and develop a collection of simple apps to start your journey as an Android developer. You will build your first Android apps with the Kotlin programming language, add images and text to your Android apps, and learn how to use classes, objects, and conditionals to create an interactive app for your users.
Day 1 will cover the first two sub-units on Android Basics. The first two sub-units will give our DSC members an insight into the basics of Kotlin, a modern programming language that allows you to express your ideas in a concise way, and introduce Android Studio to our members. By the end of our first session, our members will have created and run their first Android apps on their mobile devices.
Day 2 will cover the remaining two sub-units on Android Basics. The third and fourth sub-units will teach our members to build a basic layout and learn further concepts, such as classes, objects, and conditionals, to create an interactive app. By the end of this session, our members will have created an interactive Dice Roller app for their users.
For attendees who earn 10 badges of the Android Kotlin Fundamentals course and successfully complete the Android Kotlin Fundamentals course as part of the Prior Programming Experience Track of Android Study Jams, they will be awarded a certificate of completion to recognize and celebrate their hardwork.
The first hour covers Malaika Vardak, DSC Lead Bilkent, conducting the training session on Pathway 1. Melisa will be sharing her insights and knowledge on Android and the Kotlin programming language as we begin our journey as Android developers.
