ML201: Hands-on ML

Heritage Institute of Technology, Chowbaga Road, Kolkata, 700107

Since it's been a long time since the massive crash that was our previous ML session, we are back with another session and this isn't gonna be just a crash, but a whole "dent in the Universe". Well, not that big I suppose, but surely, a Hands-on session, where YOU will make ML projects live at the venue with the help of our ai/ml guys, is quite big. So, do join us for this "one hell" of a session!

About this event

Hey fellas!

The GDSC HITK ai/ml guys are back with another session. And this is going to be huge, like not just any other session. It's gonna be a Hands-on session, where you will be guided through, possibly, the first three Machine Learning projects of your life. Projects that you can show off on your resume, or brag to your friends about. But first, we would require you to bring your computer (even your PC) for the session, or else there wouldn't be that much fun just watching others do some awesome coding. However, please do know your electronic devices are your responsibility.

The session will start with introducing you all to the Jupyter Notebook environment and Kaggle. Then as we proceed, the different steps of building a ML project will be explained. Then comes the sweet but slightly tangy part: coding. We will guide you through building three Projects: one Classification project using the well-known IRIS Dataset, a regression project using the House-Prices Dataset, and a classification project using the famous Titanic Dataset. Every bit of code will be explained, along with basics of all the python libraries used, and the behind-the-scenes of the models and techniques used to achieve the predictions.

What YOU will do/know:

1.  The Jupyter Environment and Kaggle

2. Dataset handling using Pandas

3. Basic Exploratory Data Analysis (EDA)

4. Imputation techniques using SimpleImputer

5. A detailed understanding of Linear Regression

6. Model Building

7. Various different basic models like Decision Trees, Naive Bayes, RandomForest, KNN etc.

8. Model Evaluation and metrics

Prerequisites: Prior knowledge of Python is appreciated but it won't be a problem if you don't know. However, knowledge of the absolute basics of OO-programming will be essential.

So yeah, there's going to be a lot to cover. And, obviously, there's going to be fun stuff too. πŸš€

See ya  at the event! πŸ‘‹
