An inter-university cyber CTF is a competitive cybersecurity event where teams from different universities compete to find hidden text strings, known as "flags," in vulnerable programs or websites. This exercise challenges participants to apply their cybersecurity knowledge and skills in a gamified environment, promoting problem-solving, teamwork, and creativity
The inter-university cyber CTF is providing a platform for students to showcase their cybersecurity expertise, network with peers and professionals, and gain real-world experience in defending against cyber threats. All this is to be done in an exercise of varying challenges in which participants apply their cybersecurity knowledge and skills in a gamified environment, promoting problem-solving, teamwork, and creativity. Usually this typically includes challenges across various categories such as cryptography, reverse engineering, web exploitation, binary exploitation, forensics, and more. Participants must use their technical skills to solve these challenges and uncover hidden flags. The event often features a time limit, adding an element of urgency and excitement to the competition. Participants gain hands-on experience with real-world cybersecurity scenarios, making it an invaluable learning opportunity for aspiring cybersecurity professionals.
