From Georgetown Computer Scientist to Traveling Sunglasses Salesman to Social Entrepreneur

We will be hosting Professor Mike Malloy of Georgetown, an entrepreneur in residence, a former social entrepreneur, and a program manager at the Halcyon Incubator. Professor Malloy will be talking about his journey transitioning from Computer Science to Entrepreneurship, and what he learned along the way.

About this event

Prof Mike Malloy (G'12) will talk about his journey from studying computer science on the Hilltop to selling sunglasses on the beaches in CA to bankruptcy in his parents' basement to Halcyon a few blocks from campus to living his best work from home life at the beach in DE. In 2013, Mike wrote his first book, Becoming So Good They Can't Ignore You, which highlights his first 4.5 years of professional experience and teaches you how to find work you love by adopting the Craftsman Mindset. The book is < 60 pages and can be read in about an hour for free on his website (https://www.malloyindustries.com/library/becoming-so-good-they-cant-ignore-you). Prof Malloy will share stories and answer questions about the ups and downs of his entrepreneurial adventures and encourage you to stretch outside of your comfort zone.
