Venture Revolve is KPK’s biggest hackathon organised by Google Developer Student Clubs FAST NUCES Peshawar in collaboration with industrialists, GDG Live Pakistan, GDG Peshawar, NIC Peshawar, Startup Grind and Other GDSC Chapters.

Venture Revolve is a one-week-long hackathon that focuses on encouraging students' creativity, innovation, and entrepreneurship skills. Students who believe in “I CAN DO IT” and are eager to make a change in society by solving real-world problems align with the UN 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) with the help of Technology.

VentureRevolve features a series of workshops, Panel discussions and mentorships for the participants.

Guidelines & Requirements for Hackathon:

1. All participants will submit their ideas for the Google Solutions Challenge.
2. There should be only 2-3 members in each group.
3. Each Team will submit the demo video and Google slides or a working prototype (Figma or GitHub) of their project.
4. The answer for each question in the application form should not exceed 400 words.
5. Applications will close on 19th February 2024 at 11:59 pm.
6. The presented problem should be relevant to Pakistan.
7. All the group members must be associated with an educational institute. One of the team members should be part of any GDSC chapter.
8. Each person can join only one team.
9. Only one of the Team members is needed to submit the registration Form for the project.

Theme Of Venture Revolve

You can address, identify problems, and provide meaningful solutions to the following four

themes:

Climate Action

Pakistan faces significant environmental challenges, including pollution, water scarcity, and natural disasters. Implementing sustainable practices such as renewable energy initiatives, afforestation programs, and waste management strategies can mitigate environmental degradation. Additionally, promoting awareness and education on climate change and its impacts can empower communities to take action.

Gender Equality

Gender inequality persists in Pakistan, with women facing barriers to education, employment, and decision-making opportunities. Implementing policies that promote gender equality, such as equal pay for equal work, providing access to education and vocational training for women, and increasing female representation in leadership positions, can help dismantle gender biases and empower women economically and socially.

Decent Work and Economic Growth

Despite registering a respectable 2.1% GDP growth in the first quarter of FY 2024, Pakistan faces the ongoing challenge of providing fair employment and safe conditions, especially in disaster-affected regions like Balochistan and lower Punjab. Economic difficulties and environmental challenges further complicate this pursuit of Decent Work and Economic Growth. This initiative aims to tackle these issues head-on through a data-driven, context-specific approach. Amidst this competitive landscape, a critical focus lies on entrepreneurship promotion and sustainable practices. Essential questions guide the refinement process: How can skills programs be tailored to specific needs? How to ensure equal opportunities for entrepreneurship, particularly for marginalised groups? Answering these questions is crucial for students to solve Pakistan’s worsening economic state.

Good Health and Well-being

Health disparities exist in Pakistan, with inadequate access to healthcare services and high rates of preventable diseases. Strengthening healthcare infrastructure, improving access to healthcare services in remote areas, promoting preventative healthcare measures, and raising awareness about mental health issues can enhance overall health and well-being in the population.

Reduced Inequalities

Discrimination is a rampant issue in Pakistan; from the destruction of Hindu temples to the now-prevalent post-marriage femicide. There’s an increasing local bias against the residing East Asians in this country (especially after the initial spread of COVID-19), too, as well as one against the lower class who do not receive as many opportunities to prosper or rise in classes. While discussing and working towards finding solutions to reduce inequality in Pakistan, try to keep gender, age, ethnicity, religion, disability, and income in mind. How can we remove these integrated differences between us? How do we make a country—where a vast majority of the population does not have access to higher and quality education—understand that the only way to move forward is by giving up these prejudices passed down through the generations?
