In this cybersecurity session, participants will explore steganography, the art of hiding information within digital files. Through hands-on exercises using tools like steghide and stegseek, attendees will learn how to conceal and uncover hidden data in images, audio, and other media. By the end, participants will grasp the fundamentals of steganography, enhancing their skills in cybersecurity.
In this cybersecurity session, we'll delve into the intriguing world of steganography, the art and science of concealing information within seemingly innocuous files. We'll explore how attackers can embed secret messages or data into images, audio files, or other digital media, and how defenders can detect and uncover these hidden payloads.
During the session, participants will learn about the principles behind steganography and its applications in both cyberattacks and cybersecurity. We'll discuss real-world examples of steganography in malware, espionage, and digital forensics. Participants will also gain hands-on experience by using tools like steghide and stegseek, essential utilities in any cybersecurity toolkit, to hide and extract hidden data from files.
By the end of the session, attendees will have a deeper understanding of steganography techniques, its implications for cybersecurity, and practical skills to detect and analyze hidden information, making them better equipped to defend against steganographic attacks in Capture The Flag (CTF) competitions and real-world scenarios.
