About this event

Join us for a hands-on workshop on developing with Visual Studio Code and devcontainers. In this session, we will explore the benefits of using devcontainers to isolate and manage dependencies for your projects. You'll learn how to use VS Code's built-in devcontainer support to quickly spin up a development environment and start coding. We'll cover topics such as setting up and configuring devcontainers, troubleshooting common issues, and best practices for working with them. Devcontainers are an excellent tool to have, whether you're working on school assignments, personal projects, or even the Solution Challenge!

We recommend that participants install some software before this event. Some software (Docker) may require you to restart your computer, which could cause challenges if you join remotely:

* VS Code: https://code.visualstudio.com/
* Docker: https://www.docker.com/

When installing Docker, you can use Docker Desktop if you are using Windows or Mac. If you are using Linux, try to install the Docker engine. Here are the instructions to install the engine for Ubuntu-based distributions: https://docs.docker.com/engine/install/ubuntu/
