About this event

Description

The Demo Day is an opportunity for you and your team to showcase a project that you have been working on this semester in front of a panel of judges and all the developer community. You’re going to get a chance to introduce your wonderful projects to the world, starting with our welcoming community of programmers! It’s a great opportunity to develop a portfolio ready solution with your friends using tech, and practice public speaking in front of industry professionals. Capstone project submissions are also highly encouraged.

Prizes

Projects that get the most points from our judges will receive presents from the $200 prize pool.

Project Examples

We encourage you to submit projects regardless of the scale or weirdness. If you think that you have built something amazing, cool or just fun, we want to see it. Here are some examples to feed your imagination:

  • An app for trail condition reporting and maintenance built using Flutter. Anyone who sees a problem on a local trail or pathway can report it to the city through the app.
  • A web service that learns dance moves from you through your webcam using the Pose Detection API from Google’s ML Kit. Why dance if you can teach a stick figure to do it for you?

Requirements

  • 1 - 4 members
  • Project should be started after September 1, 2020
  • The project should be open source

Scoring

  • Google tech usage - 20 pts - How well has your project implemented a Google technology?
  • Presentation - 15 pts - This is where your presentation and storytelling skills will be judged.
  • Product completeness - 10 pts - How complete is your project? Can it be used by potential clients?
  • Community impact/value - 5 pts - Bonus points if your project directly impacts the local community.

These information is not final and might change closer to the event.
