Mojo is a promising new programming language that combines Python features and friendly syntax with systems programming and the latest compiler technologies. It allows us to write code that is as fast as C while allowing us to interconnect with the Python ecosystem. Mojo was released in closed beta in May 2023 and became publicly available in September 2023. We at GDSC BME followed the development closely and want to share details about Mojo early on. It is an excellent opportunity to join a trend before it becomes mainstream! In addition to the above, we will also talk about Python. Why did it become the de-facto language for AI? What is great about it, and what problems does it have? Join us for an exclusive event! This event is open to all, irrespective of your course. The event preparatory material will be sent to registered students one week in advance. It will include notes and links to required knowledge material. Required knowledge: familiarity with Python basics, the difference between compiled vs. interpreted languages, and the basics of OS operations (processes vs. threads). Estimated workshop time: 2-3 hours (with breaks). Type of the event: presentation/lecture. Laptops are not required.
